Workers' Group Update - June 2007 - Acts 13-15 Bible Study

Hello,

A number of things to cover this month. Let’s go through them in random order.

Bible Studies

The Bible Study covering chapters 13-15 is attached.

We are moving through Acts rather quickly, and like a big meal eaten too quickly, sometimes it’s easy for us to underestimate the importance of the things we have just digested.

What we’ve just seen in chapter 10 is of enormous importance. God has now declared, in no uncertain terms, that Gentiles believers are acceptable to him as Gentiles. While the Old Testament regularly provided hints that that is what God has planned would happen, by Act 10 it has been made absolutely clear. As Gentile believers, we should be thankful that God has extended salvation “even to the Gentiles”.

Thoughts on 2008

Thank you for all those who have responded to the consultation a few weeks ago regarding the structure of Workers’ Group in 2008. From reading the comments it’s clear to me that you prefer to continue structuring Workers’ as a set of small groups, even if it means having a few more people per group. The next step is, having had preliminary indications from those whom I would like to take on leading a group, getting firm commitments. Please continue to pray for this process, for it’s difficult to have small groups when there are nobody leading them.

Are you engaged? (Many people are…)

You may be aware, the inaugural Engage Conference (formerly known as the Katoomba Youth Convention) is on 26-28 October 2007. It’s been redesigned to cater specifically for young working people, like you. The next set of early bird prices close in early September, so put it in your diaries now. We’ll organise registrations, logistics, etc, closer to the date.

Much to write

There’s much to write still, but I haven’t organised my thoughts enough to put in writing.

Happy new tax year.

Kelvin
