Workers' Group Update - August 2008

Dear all,

Welcome to the second Workers’ Group update this year. As promised, these things are now sent on an irregular basis, so as to not overload your mailboxes.

Your group leaders and I have been meeting regularly throughout the year to share about how the groups have been going. I am very thankful to God that the groups have been going so well this year.

We also started to plan for how the groups will function next year. This is something I want to share about a bit more now.

Meeting More Regularly

You may remember how we have launched the “really regular group” this year with Alex. I’ve been told that the group has been going really, really well.

I think we are now at a stage where we can encourage even more groups to meet more regularly. And so I think from next year our groups should, in general, start to meet for Bible studies on a fortnightly basis. Groups can meet weekly if they want to.

Clearly some of us may have difficulties doing this, and we will try to accommodate those who for various reasons can’t meet that frequently. If you are one of these people, please let me know.

New Group Leaders

We are also looking for new group leaders. A few of our leaders have decided that they would like to take a break for leading groups next year, and so we need to think about how many groups we are going to have next year, and how we are going to lead them.

Given we had completely new groups this year, I want to retain the same groups as much as possible for next year. Circumstances may not necessarily allow for this, but I will certainly try.

A number of you would have been, or will be, approached by me and/or Alex about whether you would like to lead next year. Thank you to those who have already responded. Please pray and think about this seriously.

Please continue to pray for both your group and Workers’ Group in general. Please pray for me and the other group leaders and we go through the planning process for next year. Please pray that God would raise up leaders for our groups next year, so that together we may grow in reflecting who we are in Christ.
