Workers' Group Update - November 2009 #1

Hello,

How time flies! We are already heading towards the end of the year. Workers’ Group went through a rather interesting year this year. All of our groups began meeting more frequently, with the aim of meeting for Bible studies at least twice a month. Some groups were able to meet that frequently and developed very deep relationships with God and other people. However, some other groups struggled to meet for various reasons. Nevertheless, I am thankful to God that all of us were still able to meet, and that through us meeting together, the manifold wisdom of God is now being made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.

Our group leaders and I met last Sunday to talk about groups for next year. As we have been in the same groups for pretty much two years now, I originally thought it would be a good idea to reshuffle all the groups. However, it turns out that this may not be such a good idea after all.

One of the reasons why is the planning process underway for the English Ministry. At the moment the groundwork is being prepared, before the process ramps up from next year to look at specific opportunities, including how we could serve better as a group of adult workers. As this is likely to result in changes in how Workers’ Group is run, it would be better to delay wholesale changes to group structures until we are further along the planning process.

We will get to contribute in the planning process for workers next year, when the planning framework is in place. Please be patient while this is being sorted out. I would encourage you to participate in this when it comes around, as we can shape the future of the adult ministry together. Meanwhile, your prayers for the planning group (which includes Keith, Matt, Betty, Eddie, Mary, Jane, Ethan, May-Sze along with lots of others) would be very much appreciated.

While the group leaders and I have worked out some high level changes, I am still in the process of finalising names and numbers. I will be able to provide lists of names, etc, over the next few weeks. The reason I want to send this e-mail now is to keep you in the loop, and to let you know that I’ve changed my mind on some of things I’ve said to you earlier.

Please continue to pray for Workers’ Groups. As the “oldest” ministry group, we are heading into uncharted waters for our Church as a whole. Please pray that as we continue to meet as God’s people, that we may encourage each other, and that we do not refuse him who is speaking.
